Day 3- Vacation Bible School
Today was our first day doing vacation bible school. We had a schedule change and ended up visiting kids in 2 different towns today: Laslea and Vanatori. It was a full day but we learned a lot and received lots of love from some amazing kids.
The first village we went to was Laslea. We started the event with balloon animals by Dwight and Makayla. We got to sing together and then kids split up into stations. Outside we had soccer, a game of red light green light that turned into “run and dogpile on one of our team members,” and a painting station where participants created art that depicted a cross. Kids that came also made bracelets with colors that symbolize the work of Jesus. Our hope is that by wearing them, they can remember what Jesus did for them after we leave.
After spending time with the kids, we ate with members of the Lasea church in their basement space where they host homework club. Then we were able to spend time visiting Christians in the town to get to know them and pray for them. In our team debrief at the end of the day, most of us mentioned what an impact this experience made on us and those whom we visited. Our desire is that the Romanian church know with confidence that God and other Christians around the world love them. Their hospitality was incredible. The people we visited gave their all to us; it was an extreme privilege to be invited in and treated so graciously.
That afternoon we went to Vanatori, where we had a huge turnout of children! The church was packed and spirits were high. The minute to win it challenge was a favorite as participants had to race to stack their cups before their opponent. After singing together, the children of the church wanted to sing a song for us. A lot of families also stayed at this program and we got to spend time with them as well.
