Day 4-The Citadel
Today our team went two different directions. Pastor Scott Moon attended a Romanian wedding as a guest with of Sabin, pastor of our host church, Bethany Baptist. He got to see a Romanian ceremony and be part of the reception. One of the major differences in weddings is how they are paid for. In Romania, guests pay for the wedding. To determine how much to contribute, guests double the cost of their food; the extra is used by the couple for whatever is needed.
At the end of the day our group went to tour the Citadel, the major attraction in Sighişoara where we have been staying. The city is unique in that it is the only medieval citadel in the world that is still inhabited. In the church within the citadel, our group sang together. The acoustics and rich history of faith in this place made a beautiful sound. Learning more about the history of this people only makes us love the Romanian people more.
While Scott was celebrating with the couple, the rest of the team went to the village of Danes to do another VBS. We were so grateful the rain held off as we tried a slightly different schedule and had more kids outside for activity time. Some new things today that were a big hit were dancing with Macarena, stickers, and using the parachute to toss bean bags.
After VBS we visited 2 families in the village to pray with them. Romania is such a city of contrasts-a horse and cart drives on the same road as brand new cars.
