Day 7- Youth Rally
Today we had two events. First we traveled to the town of Hetur. When we arrived to set up, we only had 3 children come in. We knew this would be a smaller attended event because there are social and religious conditions in this village that prevent children from attending the Baptist church. Kennedy, Amber, and Deborah (one of our translators) went into the village to personally invite children. They came back with 10 more kids.
As we had an equal number of children and team members, we got to spend lots of one-on-one time with the kids today. One sweet thing that happened was one of the girls wanted to take more of our gospel bracelets into the town so she could share the gospel with her friends!
That evening we had a youth rally at Bethany Baptist. It was very similar to a service we would have at The Table. We had games, worship, a message by Pastor Scott Moon, and testimonies by Dwight, Makayla, and Amber. We closed the service as a group singing a song that we do often at The Table, Another in the Fire. After that we had pizza and got to eat, pairing up to get to know someone from the opposite culture.
At our debrief tonight our team shared that they enjoyed the youth rally because everyone spoke English. It was nice not to have to use a translator to connect. While the young adults were eating, one of our trip leaders Leah got to talk to Pastor Sabin’s wife about women's roles in the Romanian church and encourage her in her ministry work. She teaches bible studies as well as supporting her husband in his long hours. The wives of these amazing pastors are incredibly supportive, loving, and hard working. They are the heart of the ministry to the Romanian people.
